If you believe the old adage “it’s not what you know but who you know” then you will appreciate the importance of meeting like-minded people. Professional meetups have been around for quite some time, and people know of them as an excellent way to meet new people with similar interests. However, it’s surprising how few people are taking advantage of meet-ups which help people grow and build their brand and career. As such, we decided to make a list of our favourite professional meet-ups on the Gold Coast.
BforB Networking Gold Coast describe themselves as a “friendly, dynamic and fun group for businesses interested in business networking”. The meet up offers introductions to generate referrals, strategic alliances and opportunities to build your networking, marketing, pitching and closing skills. You will be introduced to people across many industries, to businesses you would not normally meet, for your business to improve profitability and growth. Additionally, BforB’s groups are limited to one business per sector, which will ensure maximum results to grow your own business.
The Gold Coast Networking Group offers networking events to help you promote your business and make new business contacts. Many of their meet-ups also involve panel discussions in which you can hear from knowledgeable guest speakers. Their panel discussions offer insights into niche topics, such as “proven methods for crowdfunding success” and “how to use facebook live like a pro”. Best of all, there are no joining fees and no membership fees!
Business Women’s Alliance is a network group for anyone that wants to link with business women who are encouraging, supportive and inspire each other to grow their businesses. Their meetups focus on networking, relationship building and business strategy. However, they are also an informal environment for you to meet like-minded individuals, with drinks, food, prizes on offer. Then this is the Networking group for you.
One of the fastest growing trends in entrepreneurship today is the rise of the ‘Seniorpreneur’. According to The Seniorpreneurs Network, the Baby Boomer generation are reshaping retirement and a quiet retirement is not for them. Rather, Baby Boomers are gearing up for a meaningful second act. As such, this meet-up group is dedicated to those who are taking this opportunity to start a business in retirement. The Seniorpreneurs Network is a network for people over 50, interested in entrepreneurship.
The Network Collective is a group which allows you to connect and grow with a whole host of businesses. The meet-up focus is on building relationships and learning about business. You will meet like-minded people who are keen to support and help you to grow both personally and in business. We have weekly and monthly events on the Gold Coast.
Ready to get out there? Whatever you do don’t be shy, everyone struggles with networking but once you’ve broken the ice it is all downhill sailing.
